When it comes to watches
It wouldn’t be until the 1600s that we started calling them pocket watches, and even then they really weren’t the pocket watches we know today. These watches were worn around the neck, not like the old pocket watch you have. The old pocket watch still wasn’t very popular or not as popular as it was going to get. By the 1900s the railroad company started making everyone carry a pocket watch, but they had strict standards the watch had to go by due to a big accident in Kipton, Ohio.
However by the 20th century we would all stop wearing them and begin to wear the watch around our wrist. At first only women wore them, but it would later be something that everyone wore for its convenience. In the meantime you may have seen an older gentleman pull out a watch to check what time it was, however this would soon change. Today, it is very rare to see someone carry an old pocket watch
The old pocket watch has a lot of history to it, whether it is something you’ve learned through books or just the stories of the one handed down to you. Every old pocket watch is as unique as the next and the neat thing about them is you really can go back in time. Even if you aren’t really there physically you can feel time slow down just for a brief few seconds when you hold one in your hands.
